Please explain...

Why the census needs to know if my child was adopted or biological?

Dunno. But I do know that geneaologists use census material all the time, so maybe it has something to do with that.

That's my best guess...

The census, like a birth certificate or military record, can be very helpful for genealogists, but that's not (nor should it be) the official purpose of those documents.

I read something today that said supposedly they're collecting data on how children who were adopted are in more financially stable households than their bio. child counterparts.

Cauuuuse... that's important or something.
