This is not directed at anyone in particular. I can think of no one in particular who does this. It's just something I see over and over again on the internet. I have probably been guilty of it myself and I know most people have probably NEVER made the connection and certainly don't mean any harm by it. But I HAVE seen birthmoms mention how it makes them feel, and it's not good.
I like brevity as much as the next guy, but PLEASE...
Can we stop abbreviating "Birth Mother" with the same abbreviation we use for defecation?
She gave us her child for our own.
The least we can do is take 3 extra seconds and type
I-R-T-H O-M.
